Best of Jaipur:The Pink City in 2 Days !!!
Why Jaipur?
I mean seriously right? For me, Jaipur was always a Family trip kind of place and since I mostly travel solo, Jaipur was not in my "Places to visit" list until I received the joining letter of my first job in 2018 mentioning Job location to be Jaipur!
Having stayed in Jaipur for almost a year, I got ample time to explore the nooks and corners of the city and for a person like me who gets bored easily, Jaipur succeeded in keeping me enthralled every time I stepped out.
What gets you going? History? Architecture? Scenic beauty? Food?Shopping?.. just mention it and Jaipur has more than enough to make you fall in love with it.
As much as the city has to offer, not all could be posted in one blog post. Hence presenting you the first blogpost of Jaipur series.
I have seen most people visiting Jaipur for two days, hence here's my guide to getting the best of Jaipur in 2 days!
What to see in Jaipur?
1) Hawa Mahal(1hr):- You may not, but Hawa Mahal indeed stands true to its name. Hawa Mahal literally translated to English means Wind Palace. Its honeycomb-like construction is based on the principle of cooling due to Venturi effect (Engineers, does that term sound familiar?). It was built for the Ladies of the kingdom to see the Processions and activities happening on streets outside the Mahal without them being seen by the public. Adore the architecture, interior off Mahal and head out to the top floor to spot all other tourist places around and have that slow-motion Bollywood feel of the wind blowing your hair.

#Tip:- Do Indulge in Street shopping on bazaars located in the Pink City area near Hawa Mahal for Jewellery, Clothes, Handicrafts. For a picturesque view of Hawa Mahal at Sunset, Head to Tattoo cafe or Wind view cafe in front of Hawa Mahal.
2) City Palace(2hr):- Want to see what Royal really means? Built in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh, City Palace stands tall since the time when the City of Jaipur came into existence. It was the administrative, cultural centre then, which has now been converted into a museum. You will see the royal courthouse, living room, clothes, jewellery etc of the Royal family.

#TIP - I took a guide for this one without whom I wouldn't have understood the working of instruments. Do hire a guide here. Make sure you visit the place in sharp sunlight to see the working of instruments.
4)Nahargarh Fort(2hr):- Photographers, pack your gear and head out for some amazing clicks. Built as a retreat for King initially it converted into strong Defense ring for the city. The wall of Nahargarh extends to 22 km around the city. Beautiful place to spend the evening and see the sunset. It also has Wax museum and Mirror Palace at top. The rooftop restaurant in Nahargarh is open at night as well where you can have a full view of City from Topmost Point in City.
#TIP - There are 2 routes to Nahargarh. First one is from outside the city, you can take cars and bikes from that road to the top of Nahargarh. A cab will take you there at approx 400Rs, but you won't find a cab while coming down, so you will have to trek down or hire a cab on an hourly basis for approx 3 Hours. The second route is from the city. You can trek to the top (Approx 20 minutes) or take your bike from this route. I suggest this route as the trek is not exhausting plus the view is amazing and you will save a good amount of cab.
5)Amer Fort(2hr):- It was initially built by Meena Dynasty in 967 AD in the town of Amer near Jaipur. The fort that we see now was built by Raja Man Singh and his descendants over the remnants of the original one. Later the capital was shifted to Jaipur in 1727.

#TIP - A light show is arranged at night at Amer Fort which tells the history of the fort. (Both in Hindi and English).
6)Albert Hall Museum(1hr):- The foundation of Hall was laid during the visit of King Albert Edward(King of Wales) to Jaipur in 1876 which gives the museum its name. The Museum was and still is used for showcasing the art of Rajasthan.
#Tip - Palace lights up from outside at night which is a must-see. Stay tuned for my blog 'Jaipur at Night' to see the same.
7)Jal Mahal(15min):-On your way to Amer Fort, you will see this beauty floating gracefully in Man Sagar Lake. Though entry to the Mahal is prohibited, you can enjoy the view of Mahal from a walkway on the roadside.

#TIP:- Shop for handicrafts from the walkway here as it is cheaper than any other places in Jaipur.
8)Jawahar Circle:- Biggest circular park in Asia on a traffic signal. Head out to this place for having a peaceful walk around. The place is more known for the entrance of it, Patrika Gate. You will witness the beautiful architecture and artwork here. All the pillars are handpainted depicting the culture of Rajasthan.

Where to stay in Jaipur?
I cannot emphasize enough on how important Hostel stays are. On reading the word hostel, I am sure everyone pictures their college hostel buildings, but the backpacker hostels are way too far from that. Extremely clean rooms, cosy interiors, comfy beds, happening common rooms, amazing roommates from worldwide, fun activities, and all that at just around 300Rs to 400Rs a bed per night.
You may book your travel at www.booking.com or www.agoda.com. These are my favourite sites for booking my stays. Being a popular tourist place, Jaipur has a number of good Hostels available at the centre of the city. My favourite was The Hosteller.
